Journalist Maria Ressa in Oslo for Nobel Peace Prize after Philippine court grants her travel right

A prominent journalist and leading critic of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Ressa co-founded the online news platform Rappler, which challenged government policies, including on extrajudicial killings and human rights violations during Duterte’s war on drugs. She has since been indicted on tax violation and libel charges, among others. Ressa was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize with Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov on October 8 for their efforts “to safeguard freedom of expression”. Fishermen rescued by Korean coast guard in fatal Chinese boat accident #shorts

Search teams with the Korean coast guard have pulled another fisherman from the sea after rescuing at least 12 others in a fatal fishing boat accident off the southwestern coast of South Korea. Fifteen men were working on the Chinese vessel when it capsized in rough seas, killing at least four fishermen. The South Korean coast guard is continuing the search on October 21, 2021, for at least two people who remain missing.
