WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the disease is now a “public health emergency of international concern”. More than 16,000 cases and five deaths had been reported worldwide as of July 25, 2022. Monkeypox has been detected in 75 countries and regions, including South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India and Singapore.
