Russia-Europe gas pipeline temporarily closed for maintenance amid EU fuel shortage

The suspension is expected to last for 10 days, but European officials worry that the Kremlin will extend it beyond the maintenance period, destabilising countries like Germany, which receives 30 per cent of its fuel supply via the Nord Stream 1.
