New Delhi remains tense after communal violence between Muslims and Hindus in Indian capital

The violence occurred as Hindu devotees passed by a mosque in Jahangirpuri, a neighbourhood that is home to a large Bengali-speaking Muslim population. Local authorities have arrested 23 people and are investigating how the violence began. Each side blamed the other for starting the conflict that began with stones being thrown, and allegedly at least one shot being fired, according to eyewitness accounts.
