Moscow court sets appeal date for jailed WSJ reporter seeking to lift his pre-trial detention

Gershkovich, a US citizen, was arrested on March 29 in Russia and charged with espionage, which carries a prison term of up to 20 years. Media groups and the White House have demanded his immediate release, but Russia has ignored those requests saying Western media showed “no reaction” to the death of a Russian blogger killed in a cafe bomb attack on April 2.
