Thailand legalises marijuana, releases thousands arrested on cannabis charges

Convictions on possession of even small amounts of cannabis in Thailand had carried prison terms until June 2022, when Thai officials decriminalised the drug, effectively making it legal to smoke, sell and cultivate marijuana. The move set off celebrations across Thailand as weed enthusiasts proudly lit up in public.
