The illness, likely an outbreak of typhoid or cholera in Haeju city, could further tax a healthcare system already coping with a worsening pandemic. Since North Korea reported its first Covid-19 outbreak in May 2022, 4.56 million people have fallen ill with fever, according to official reports.
