Ukraine symphony orchestra stages peace concert in Kyiv amid air raid sirens

The open-air concert was staged as an “action of peace”, according to the conductor Herman Makarenko. Above the sounds of strings and trumpets, sirens could be heard blaring in the distance as a warning for the public to seek shelter. Thousands of Ukrainians continue to flee the Russian invasion, with over 2 million people so far having crossed the border, according to the United Nations.
