Meng Wanzhou returns to China and Canadians freed after US court reaches deal with Huawei CFO

Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://ift.tt/2qHOrkO Huawei Technologies Co executive Meng Wanzhou reached a deal with US prosecutors on September 24, 2021, paving the way for her immediate return to China and reportedly for the release from China of two Canadians, Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. The pair had been held on spying charges, and Spavor was serving an 11-year sentence. The deal effectively resolved a case that has kept Meng in legal limbo in Vancouver for nearly three years, and soured relations between Beijing, Washington and Ottawa. Meng did not plead guilty, but was freed after agreeing to a “statement of facts” about the US case against her under the deal that took the form of a deferred prosecution agreement that will be in effect until December 2022. Daily medical waste levels are said to be twice that of the incinerator’s capacity. From March 19-23, 2022, the city generated over three times more clinical waste each day , compared to the same period in 2021, according to the city’s Environmental Protection Department. Clinical waste refers to potentially harmful substances generated by clinics, hospitals and laboratories, including used syringes and body tissue. They cannot be recycled and must be incinerated or buried in a landfill due to their potential health risks. Heavy reliance on single-use food containers and Covid-19 rapid test kits have also contributed to the rising level of wastes, some of which are now buried in a landfill in the New Territories.
