At least 44 Palestinians dead as truce ends latest conflict between Israel and militants in Gaza

About 350 people were also hurt, mostly in Gaza but some Israelis suffered minor injuries. The conflict started August 5 when Israel launched what it called pre-emptive air strikes, and violence escalated as the Palestininan militant group Islamic Jihad responded with retaliatory fire. Israel said it had earlier arrested a senior commander of the militant group and the fresh round of attacks was aimed at containing possible retaliation. The recent round of violence was the worst seen in the region since May 2021, when at least 271 were killed over 11 days of fighting. Fishermen rescued by Korean coast guard in fatal Chinese boat accident #shorts

Search teams with the Korean coast guard have pulled another fisherman from the sea after rescuing at least 12 others in a fatal fishing boat accident off the southwestern coast of South Korea. Fifteen men were working on the Chinese vessel when it capsized in rough seas, killing at least four fishermen. The South Korean coast guard is continuing the search on October 21, 2021, for at least two people who remain missing.
