The latest quake on June 8 was measured at magnitude 6.1. The swarm has been reported in the same area where 196 people were killed by a major quake in April 2013. The central government has ordered an emergency response and sent about 4,500 local rescuers to the earthquake zone. The casualties were reported from the first earthquake on June 1, which was recorded at about 5pm at a depth of 17km (10.5 miles), with an epicentre 113km from the provincial capital of Chengdu. The flashes, known as repeating fast radio bursts (FRB), each last for only a few milliseconds, but can release as much energy as our own solar system’s sun emits in an entire year. Dubbed the “Holy Grail of shipwrecks,” the San José galleon, which was discovered in 2015, sank near the port of Cartagena in 1708. The newly unearthed shipwrecks include a Spanish colonial-era boat and a 200-year-old ship from Colombia's war of independence from Spain.
