South Korea to require Covid-19 tests for travellers from China, joining US and Japan

Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://ift.tt/msSktWE South Korea said on December 30, 2022, that it will require travellers from China to undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing on arrival, joining the United States, Japan and other countries in adopting new border control measures amid a surge in cases in the country. According to officials, starting January 2, people arriving from China will have to take a PCR test upon arrival and beginning January 5, they will be required to submit a negative result for a PCR test taken within 48 hours, or a rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of departure. Daily medical waste levels are said to be twice that of the incinerator’s capacity. From March 19-23, 2022, the city generated over three times more clinical waste each day , compared to the same period in 2021, according to the city’s Environmental Protection Department. Clinical waste refers to potentially harmful substances generated by clinics, hospitals and laboratories, including used syringes and body tissue. They cannot be recycled and must be incinerated or buried in a landfill due to their potential health risks. Heavy reliance on single-use food containers and Covid-19 rapid test kits have also contributed to the rising level of wastes, some of which are now buried in a landfill in the New Territories.
