Child labour in illegal mines reportedly increases amid economic crisis in Afghanistan

Footage captured on September 8, 2022 appears to show school-age workers being lowered into the shafts of an illegal gold mine, to work long hours extracting the valuable commodity. The tunnels, which can go as deep as 70 metres (230 feet) have been known to collapse, leading to several deaths and injuries in the past.
