Coronavirus: ‘exponential’ outbreak of Omicron triggers lockdowns in Hong Kong housing blocks

The outbreak involved at least four buildings of the Kwai Chung Estate in the city’s southwestern New Territories. In a press conference, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said authorities saw an “exponential outbreak” at the estate where the number of infections had jumped fivefold from the previous day.
