Taliban guards in training ahead of reopening of Afghanistan’s largest prison

Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://ift.tt/2qHOrkO About 130 Taliban fighters are being trained to work as guards at the Pul-e-Charkhi prison as the facility in the Afghan capital Kabul is readied to go back into service. Afghanistan’s largest prison in the country reportedly once held as many as 1,500 inmates before they were freed by the Taliban as the militant group moved in to seize the city and control of the country in August. Opening prisons was a strategy used by Taliban fighters across the country, since freed Islamist inmates often would join their ranks. Tokyo court issues summons for Kim Jong-un in North Korean ‘kidnapping’ lawsuit

Subscribe to our YouTube channel for free here: https://ift.tt/2qHOrkO On October 14, 2021, five North Korean defectors living in Japan called on Kim Jong-un to appear before a Tokyo district court in a lawsuit over a 1959 Korean repatriation programme they liken to kidnapping. More than 90,000 ethnic Koreans, and their Japanese wives, were repatriated to North Korea as part of a Pyongyang-funded programme to replace workers lost during the Korean War. They were enticed with promises of “paradise on Earth” only to be forced into manual labour camps upon their return to North Korea. Five ethnic Koreans who defected back to Japan are now seeking 100 million yen (US$880,000) each in damages.
